A Trio of Honours

Founder and Managing Director of Rimjhim Consulting, Rimla Akhtar MBE, has been honoured with three awards, reflecting her growing influence across not just the sports industry but more widely across society and globally.

Roehampton University began by awarding Rimla with an honorary doctorate for her dedicated service to inclusion and diversity in sport. This was followed by an honorary doctorate from the University of East London for the same work. More recently, Rimla was named at number 14 on Forbes’ 2018 global list of the most powerful women in sport.

Commenting on the continuing receipt of awards, Rimla said, “My work in diversity and inclusion in sport began, as it does for many, due to my own experience of discrimination and wanting to ensure that my story wasn’t repeated for the generations that follow. I feel we are only part of the way to the vision of an inclusive, meritocratic and dynamically diverse industry. To be given these honours is a lovely recognition of the work my team, colleagues and I have been doing for over a decade. The journey has only just begun and our determination for our vision is stronger than ever.”
